Why I'm Running, Again! |

I
ran for governor the first time in the recall election of 2003. I
was fed up with our state's politicians then and while another two
years has gone by, I still am. The recall election turned
into a
circus with the wide array of candidates who entered the race for
publicity purposes. How many of our recall election candidates
are running this time? The filling fee of running for governor is
the same in this election as in the recall election. The major
difference is that in order to get on the ballot in the general
election this time, you must win the primary of your registered party.
I want Californians to have the option of voting for someone that will
listen to the people. I don't believe that our current Governor
has done this. (He heard that the people didn't want the special
election, but it was more important to him to go on with it. His
poor leadership cost us, the taxpayers, close to $100 million dollars
on the "Special Election". How many bridges, interchanges, or
miles of new asphalt could we have had for that money?)
Californians needs a leader who is in touch with the majority of its
people, a leader who is a peer on both a social and economic level, and
a leader who can explain the reasons for making the decisions they
do. All of our elected politicians should be held accountable and
responsible for their actions. Politics is a field that with
every decision you make, someone will disagree with your decision. You
have to have thick skin and choose the decision that's best for the
people, even if it goes against your own personal opinion.
California
Politics

California politics are still dominated by special interests.
This didn't end with the election of our current Governor, who said he
didn't need any special interest money, and that he had plenty of his
own. (Please note that he never said that he wouldn't accept special
interest money, he just said he didn't need it.) Gov.
Schwarzenegger's fund raising has surpassed that of any previous
governor, including Gray Davis.
Californians need to have the opportunity to vote for a candidate who
is not trying to buy his way into office. According to an article
in the Sacramento Bee, this year's election for governor has Phil
Angelides with $15 million, Steve Westly with $30 million, and
Schwarzenegger starting with a deficit of several hundred thousand
dollars in their campaign funds. Schwarzenegger had spent his own money
in the amount of $4.5 million in the recall election and another $7
million in last year's special election. In his current bid for
office, he is sure to collect millions from campaign donors.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I will not accept special interest money and I
will not attempt to buy the position with my own money or anyone
else's'. PERIOD. The outlandish spending in elections
is not getting our citizens the best results. The candidates who spend
the most money in an election, does not result in us electing the best
candidate. You, the voters, need to decide for yourselves who will best
represent you and who will best serve California.
Republican
Politics
In my opinion, the Republican Party needs to change dramatically in
order to motivate registered Republican voters to exercise their right
to vote. The voter turnout rate is dismal at best. Voters
have become lethargic about politics, politicians, and voting.
The Republican Party needs to modify its positions in order to serve
the majority of registered republicans. Just as our elected
public servants need to listen to the electorate, the Republican Party
needs to listen to ALL of its registered voters. It seems as
though the Republican Party only listens to those who are paying to
become an "official" member of the party.
In this republican primary election there are a least three candidates
filing to run for the office of governor. The California
Republican Party has already endorsed our current governor in February
(at the Republican Convention in San Jose) without waiting to see how
many Republican s are actually running for office. The filing
period to run for office ends on March 10th. How can the party
leaders determine which candidate will be the best to lead California
if they refuse to see who is available and who has qualified to run for
the office? The bottom line is that the California Republican
Party leaders only care about winning the election, not providing
California with the best candidate to represent the people. This
decision to endorse our current governor is not in the best interest of
the Republican Party and especially not in the best interest of
Californians.

If the Republican Party wants to revitalize its voters they are going
to have to concede that they lost the war over abortion. We need
to focus more on current issues, not keep fighting the same battle over
and over again. It's been 33 years since the Supreme Court
ruling. The South isn't going to rise again and Roe vs. Wade should not
be overturned. We lost, get over it, and move on. Teach
your children and grandchildren values and morals. It's not the
role of government. We have seen too many elected officials over
the years, from different political parties, breaking the law, involved
in scandals, and providing political favors. These are not the
type of people I want, making moral decisions for our state or
nation.
Our society needs to realize that not everyone agrees on issues.
Not all Republicans agree on political issues, moral issues, or
religious issues. Our party needs to eliminate the stereotype
pushed upon us by our adversaries. Our party is not racist, not
just Christian, or not just wealthy individuals. We have members
of all nationalities, faiths, and economic levels. We as a party
need to emphasize this, but most importantly we need to make decisions
based upon this.
Before the Republican Party starts to criticize a competing political
party or their candidate, we must be able to scrutinize our own party
and its candidates. If we have a member of our party who is
currently holding office or running for office that has been involved
in a questionable situation, we as a party should be willing to
investigate the improprieties and come to a conclusive decision.
If our party finds that one of our own has wronged, we need to be at
the top of the list when it comes to condemning their actions. If
we are to be leaders, we need to set the highest standard of ethics and
honor. We need candidates to represent our party that are
honorable, truthful, and who demonstrate class. Some of those in
our party have not been up to this standard. (Rep. Randy "Duke"
Cunningham of San Diego would be just one example within our party.)
Political
Pork
Here's the best way for me to explain pork barrel spending by our
politicians:
Let's take a pig to represent pork barrel project spending. We'll
have the left side of the pig represent Democrats and the right side
will represent Republicans. Now we'll split the pig down the
middle from head to tail. What will we see? There's just as
much pork on the right side as there is on the left side.
Republicans should not be complaining about anyone else in regards to
pork barrel projects when they promote their own. If it's not
good for us when our opponents waste our money, then it's not good when
we waste our money! Taxpayers are always left footing the bill,
no matter who's serving the pork.
Who
do I think will
vote for me?
I think that if all of the registered republican voters were to take
the time and educate themselves on my candidacy, the majority would
feel that I was the best choice to have their voices heard. I,
nor anyone else, will ever change the minds of those party members who
only follow the endorsement of "the Party". The voters who think for
themselves, are willing to take the time to research the candidates,
and realize that our party needs to change, will be the people who vote
for me. Wearing blinders and not looking beyond the boundaries of
your own party will not meet our state and country's best interests.
I'm hoping to provide the voters with a positive choice, rather than
picking the lesser of two evils.
Since the majority of registered voters (from all parties) are fed up
with our current politicians and they're not exercising their right to
vote, I have a better than average chance of winning, only if the media
would be willing to acknowledge my candidacy. Without the
assistance of the media via newspapers, television, and radio, a
candidate has no chance. If a candidate is not given a chance,
then the voters have no choices.
How
you can help
If you're still reading this and I've been able to keep you interested
or motivated so far, you have surpassed the 20 seconds which most
so-called experts feel your attention span will last. I thank you
for taking your time. If you're willing, I need your help by
telling others of my candidacy. Please tell your friends,
neighbors, and co-workers about me and my web site. Write letters
to the newspaper editors; call radio and television stations, and
e-mail people you know. This is a grass roots effort to elect a
candidate that understands the meaning of being a "public
servant". I won't accept special interest money. Printed
information and election signs will be very minimal if any. The
cost of sending political literature at fifty cents to one dollar per
item is cost prohibitive in my campaign with the statewide number of
voters in the millions. Once again, THANK YOU.

his time to
this effort. Check out his home page at:
